Outgoing email issue

I am having a problem getting mail to send out via outlook email client. I can receive it but not send.

The mail.err log shows this... Nov 27 16:06:34 sunny-blue-palm dovecot: imap-login: Error: SSL: Stacked error: error:140760FC:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_CLIENT_HELLO:unknown protocol Not sure if this has anything to do with it.

on mail.log I get warning: TLS library problem: error:1408A10B:SSL routines:ssl3_get_client_hello:wrong version number:s3_srvr.c:960: Nov 27 16:53:31 sunny-blue-palm postfix/smtpd[2746]: lost connection after STARTTLS

I am also not clear on the proper settings for the outgoing server as far as port and secure settings.

Also, I am getting a message about no SSL for the server using the mail.mydomain.com

Any help is appreciated I have been going in circles for a couple of weeks now.

You may have guessed I am new to virtualmin and Postfix and Dovecot.

Hi,

It sounds like you don't have SSL setup correctly on the server. If you'd like assistance, drop me a line.

Help him here then ... geez yet another opensource parasite.

SMTP port 587 works fine for me.

Also authenticate, username - pwd

Do you need SSL??

Couple of weeks. ??

Not important then.

Couple of week because I have had no luck finding assistance or decent information and since I have email on my old server I am just using that for now. I must say that postfix and dovecot are low end crap but it is what I have so I am trying to make it work.

Hi,

No need to slander the developers of Postfix and Dovecot. The products are great, and it sounds more like you need to fix whatever issue is plaguing your machine which is 9 times out of 10 user (you) created.

If you'd like, I am happy to set aside some time to assist you in debugging the matter. I use Virtualmin on over a two dozen machines, and have never experienced issues with Postfix or Dovecot that I didn't create myself or were not fixable after finding the source.

Is it possible for some friend to post postfix config files's key modificable parameters? Frankly the postfix does not work out of the box and I consulted many pages on how to configure and almost each one had different ideas. Now I have a postfix that does not work. I can only send mails but cant receive. I have almost 4/5 ports open 25 110 993 465 and 587 and I have not found yet a simple solution how to config it. I have built qmail a few times in past years and I thought postfix was a better solution but frankly it is not as friendly as it appears.

Hi atleast,

I think your problem is in Dovecot if the receiving is the problem. If you say you can send mails, then Postfix is working. I have been using Virtualmin Pro for about 13 years now and have never had any problem with Postfix or Dovecot, they have always worked "out of the box".
