Is it possible to update mysql to MySQL 5.5.25a using Virtualmin.

Hello,

Is it possible to update mysql to MySQL 5.5.25a using Virtualmin. I haven't had much luck finding a solid walk through on this subject. When I google information on it, I find people pointing to different repositories that end up breaking my server and its ability to properly update.
Any help would be appreciated or a point in the right direction. I'm currently running centos 5.8 64bit and my virtualmin is fully updated to teh current version. When i run YUM UPDATE it also says Im currently running the lastest updates and none are needed.

I don't think there is anything that virtualmin "could do for you". In any case you would have to install some new repos (as you read already), but that is something the "virtualmin folks" really don't recommend this for stability reasons.

By the way, you can constrain any repo to a limited range by using the includepkgs directive.

While I stick with the mysqldump: Couldn't execute 'show events': Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' to database 'performance_schema' (1044) reporting, when I will backup my Virtual Server to my backup server.

I read a lot over this issue, and some people say, simple update your MySQL server to version 5.7.6 (now I'm running Server version: 5.5.56-MariaDB - MariaDB Server). What are your suggestions, related to Virtualmin and all the running Vitual servers (3)? Are there conflicts with Virtualmin. On the moment, all updates suggested by Virtualmin are executed and all running smoothy. I know, I have to do this update via ssh. But I won't take the risico that I have more troubles then only the acces to performance schema.
