That package is unrelated to the Virtualmin UI (and can't cause that behavior).
That looks like running out of memory. Are there "Out of memory" errors in the kernel log? (run
dmesg
to see)What shows up in the Webmin miniserv.error log when you switch between the Webmin and Virtualmin tabs?
(erm). Slightly to massively embarrassed here.
I forgot I uninstalled Postfix as I was configuring version 10.2 of MariaDB - the virtualmin-config package was installed shortly afterwards, hence the confusion.
Sorry for wasting your time (perhaps an error message saying Postfix not found as it is clearly required might be useful!)
I don't understand why you'd uninstall postfix to install mariadb...the two seem unrelated?
But, I'm also surprised Virtualmin would behave so badly due to a missing Postfix package. It's bad, but it shouldn't cause Virtualmin to crap out. I'll have to test and see why it's doing that. Was there an error in the log?
In order to upgrade mariadb I have found I need to uninstall 5.5 which removes as a dependency, postfix. So I removed 5.5, set up the 10.2 repo and reinstalled. I just forgot to reinstall postfix.
OK, I'm gonna mark this fixed. I suspect there would have been a way to cross-grade without needing to remove Postfix (I know I was able to install Mariadb 10 on our systems, using the SCL repository, without needing to remove anything). But, if things are working again, I'll call this done. Thanks for the update!
