Hello everyone,
I just want to do a proper backup before I upgrade all the libraries that webmin suggest everyday. Is File System backup the right tool to use in this case? Is /var and /etc are enough, what other folders do I need to include? I already have /home backup in virtualmin scheduled backup.
Hi maconeto
Here is what I do.
I backup my virtual servers through Virtualmin> Backup and Restore> Scheduled Backups then I backup my Mysql databases through Webmin> Servers> MySQL Database Server> Backup Databases> and finally I backup configuration files through Webmin> Backup Configuration Files> Scheduled Backups.
All Backups are scheduled to run daily, weekly and monthly with multiple backups stored in case something goes wrong. So those are the places I would look to do backups but others may have some additional thoughts.
Hi Allan. I already created backup at Virtualmin > Backup and Restore > Schedule Backups, and also backup configuration file. But to my understanding, these backups don't cover those Linux libraries that Virtualmin suggest me to update every day. For example PHP7 library. I want to backup these files before I click update button in the panel, because I'm afraid after update, my server might have problem booting up or other issues that I might want to go back. Please correct me if I'm wrong but I think file system backup is the only tool that covers these files? Right? And etc/ + var/ folder are enough?
