We have migrated all our mailbox to someother webmin working server. Everything was working fine since yesterday. After login to userming the page was just loading and loading and it die and never complete..
Even we tried re-login still same issue. The user mailbox size is 31G and for that particular user consuming high memory utilisation. Today after login it stopped working but for other user it is working fine. memory consumption is high for the user who is trying to login.

username heather.
Please let me know what could be the issue.

Could be caused by corrupt index files for that user.
Try SSHing in as root,
cd
to the user's home directory, and run :rm .usermin/mailbox/*index*

Hello, The problem that the page does not load happened after I made some mail preference changes as explained from the screenshot below;
Once I clicked on this preference icon, http://www.awesomescreenshot.com/image/1798212/73bbab269ac94f3a6fa8165f8...
Then you see this preference page :
http://www.awesomescreenshot.com/image/1798214/92f52fc77cd125be4de8587de...
Then after I ticked on some of the form preference field the page never reloads back, please see this screenshot: http://www.awesomescreenshot.com/image/1798228/6e31277d2533604b6a10c4ad9...
Would you know how to fix this problem?????
Thanks.

Try also running
rm .usermin/mailbox/*sort*
to clear any sort order configuration, which could be making the mailbox slow.Submitted by mohiddinshaikh on Sun, 11/06/2016 - 02:28 Comment #6
Tried that too, still same issue. Whenever try to access mailbox for user "heather" the memory consumption goes high and page dies.

Can you post the full width process list? The command that's using all the memory is being cut off..

What if you switch to another theme for this user, like the older "Virtualmin Framed Theme" ?
Submitted by mohiddinshaikh on Mon, 11/07/2016 - 05:37 Comment #11
That also tried but webpage shows some icons like in top "Mail and Usermin" icon which are broken and pages doesn't load completely and memory usage still goes high... Is this related to high number of mail in inbox? Actually user did some changes in Read Mail Preferences and saved from that moment problem started.

Can you post or attach the file
.usermin/mailbox/config
under the user's home directory? That will be easier for me to compare..Submitted by mohiddinshaikh on Tue, 11/08/2016 - 13:23 Comment #18
This has got to be a System Folder access performance problem! And this is my message post: The problem has got to be because we don't probably use of dbm (a simple database provided by perl) . Usermin webmail does not parse the mail folder file and cache the parsed result to a dbm probably as this is a huge file folder. The dbm cache eliminates the scan of an entire folder for every access, a significant benefit when dealing with a large folders. The dbm is automatically synchronized with any changes to the folder itself; the dbm update is incremental if the folder modification is done by the Open usermin webmail application itself. The dbm will however be recreated when a folder is found to have been changed by an external program. As we are facing this incredible problem with this user account aspecially I guess that usermin webmail has no appropriate cache tools, appropriate dbm and any other kind of performance webmail tool that usermin webmail is problably missing, can you please check this feature?

Do we need to instal the GDBM_File perl module ? Is SpeedyCGI installed on usermin ? Do we need to move cgi-bin/usemin/etc/sessions to a larger partition with diskquota disabled, then create a symbolic link to that new directory ? after the cgi request submission can the folder usermin may be locked by other process ? Is it due to the concurrent accesses to the folder by other mail client through the pop3/imap daemons ? Running useermin in a persistent mode, could there be some kind usermin processes locking the folder file for indexing ???? To release the lock, do we need to kill the usermin speedy_backend process ? Is there a usermin webmail-tool to find the processes holding the filelocks, and kill the processes after confirmation ? If the locks couldn't be released after killing the related processes, do we have to solve the problem in a quick and dirty way… ????
Rename the file, copy it to original name, then remove the renamed one. This would have the file a new inode and thus release all old locks ?
Submitted by JamieCameron on Wed, 11/09/2016 - 22:53 Comment #21
Installing GDBM_File shouldn't be necessary - Perl always has at least one type of DBM file supported that Usermin can use.
Would it be possible for us to login to your system to see what's happening inside usermin when it tries to list the mailbox?

Jamie it looks like that ticket is here:

Also, note that I am able to reproduce that issue.

It looks like Jamie followed up on your other ticket asking for SSH access. Take a peek at his comment here, and if you have any questions regarding how to do that let us know:

as i said usermin is causing the issue after I changed setting in prefrences. Every time I change some preferences from the prefference buton no mail data is showing anymore after my prefference change!!!
"heather" email account process is consuming more resources hence its hampering other mailbox too!!!
but it stuck in usermin process only.. not on dovecot it stuck here root@usa:~# ps -ef|grep heather heather+ 23068 22755 29 13:02 ? 00:00:17 /usr/share/usermin/virtual-server-theme/left.cgi heather+ 23069 22755 30 13:02 ? 00:00:17 /usr/share/usermin/mailbox/index.cgi heather+ 23142 22755 3 13:02 ? 00:00:01 /usr/share/usermin/virtual-server-theme/left.cgi heather+ 23143 22755 3 13:02 ? 00:00:01 /usr/share/usermin/mailbox/index.cgi this processes cosuming more resources...

I wouldn't recommend IM'ing or emailing him, the best way to contact the Virtualmin team is using the support tracker here.
My suggestion is to include the SSH login info in the other request you created.
Alternatively, if you don't wish to do that --
You could always resend the email with your credentials to Jamie, and then follow up on your other request, giving Jamie the email subject that the credentials are in.

I did not IM'ing or emailing him, I sent my ssh credentials to my other ticket request here https://www.virtualmin.com/node/44167#comment-767325
And I still don't understand why he hasn't replied yet!
