I installed 18.30 on a couple machines today and I do not see any way to make the right hand pane with all the new functionality disappear. So unless you're on a computer with a huge screen, the right pane now obscures the middle pane, making it all but useless. Perhaps there is some way to make it go away that I am not seeing?

There's an option to keep "slider always visible" - which was turned on. Problem was that on the screen I was working on the center pane was so narrow I could not really read the options well when going to the settings for the theme. Anyway, this is resolved.
