Does that directory
/home/A-USER/domains/SUB-SERVER.com/.backup
actually exist?How about
/home/A-USER/domains/SUB-SERVER.com

/home/A-USER/domains/SUB-SERVER.com/.backup - does NOT exist
the SUB-SERVER.com path is valid and contains an etc and tmp directory and a dot file called .virtualmin-src

Is this sub-server an alias domain, or a full website?
Also, is the owner of the top-level domain perhaps low on disk quota?

today's error msg for the same schedule backup is slightly different
Failed to open /home/B-USER/.backup/DOMAIN.com_dns_dnssec_keyinfo for writing : No such file or directory at ../web-lib-funcs.pl line 1427.

yes that error was an alias server

It looks like the real issue is that the
.backup
directory can't be created, or is being deleted.Do you perhaps have multiple backups for the same domain running at the same time?

yes, one is hourly, another is daily.
** so the midnight scheduled bkup fails.

Couldn't they overlap then, at midnight?

Maybe change the hourly one to 30 minutes past the hour?
