This website is deprecated, and remains online only for historic access to old issues and docs for historic versions of Virtualmin. It has been unmaintained for several years, and should not be relied on for up-to-date information. Please visit www.virtualmin.com instead.
So...does the content still exist in the user's home? If not, you'll need to restore from backup. It's possible to dis-associate a domain from Virtualmin's control which would leave behind all of the data, but if you really deleted it and asked Virtualmin to delete the home directory, it's a done deal and there's not really anything to be done aside from restoring a backup (it warns you about this before deleting and asks for a confirmation).
I'd like to start adding some "Undo" options in the UI, but for something as big and complex as a virtual server deletion, I don't think we can realistically add an Undo option for it (it'd require making a full backup of the domain before doing the deletion, which would make it very slow in the case of large domains). It might be worth adding a checkbox to provide an option to make a backup before deleting, though. I'm not sure what the "right" UI for something like this would be, as there are definitely some tradeoffs no matter how we tackle it.
Hi, when you deploy your site/s on new fresh install make sure you always backup site/s settings including dbs.. and plus server settings and name it as init or something like new.. or whatever.. and keep it off side. Then set up some automatic backup in future for your sites and server settings.. lets say server settings for each week or month and site/s backup for each night past 10 days at least.. then you will have no problem like this..
I would not like the undo thing mentioned by joe..
I understand that accidents happens but that is why should backup would save your back....... so without backup - I would suggest you to go all along with manual restore option and then do manual backup of your init.. then automated one..
Configuring/troubleshooting Debian servers is always great fun
