Hello,
In order to avoid having a server get flagged for sending spam, I'm trying to change the from email field of Webmin notifications, i.e. backups not working, so that it's from a FQDN that actually points to the host. I've done everything necessary in the MTA configuration (Postfix), yet the domain name of notification emails is still the non-FQDN name of the host as it was set in /etc/hosts during the installation of the OS (Ubuntu Server).
The particular host name being used by Webmin is the name associated with 127.0.0.1. Is there a way to get around having Webmin use that hostname without having to edit /etc/hosts? Is there an option buried somewhere in the menus that I've been overlooking?
Howdy,
You can set your desired email address in System Settings -> Virtualmin Config -> Actions upon user and server creation, and in there you can set "From: address for email sent by Virtualmin".

Ah, I see. So it is a per-VPS setting? Is there any way to bulk change this, or will I need to change it in every domain (and how?)
Thank you very much.
Howdy,
Settings in System Settings -> Virtualmin Config are valid for your entire server.
So you only need to make that one change, and then emails sent from Webmin/Virtualmin should do so using that email address.

It seems that this answer is outdated.
Webmin uses the address set in webmin/edit_sendmail.cgi, while virtualmin (haven't checked) uses the address set as described above. Is this correct?
