The very reason why we had disabled was to take care of the updates without disturbing the end users. And now we have this pop-up window:
Detected that you don't have enabled notifications for Authentic Theme updates? Enabling this feature in Theme Configuration will help you to update to the latest version in a single click as soon as it's out.
Don't you guys think the Authentic Theme is becoming too much invasive and imposing? Please respect the fact not only the individual users, but hosting companies use Virtualmin (which unfortunately adapted Authentic theme as default one) and we do everything to make the end-users experience as smooth as possible.

In my perspective it's not
invasive
. It happens only once for a browser session. Once you click cross (close), you will never see this message again unless you clear theme's cache or browser's cache completely.When I make theme's settings per user stored on the server side, it will happen only once for a user and be independent from browser's cache.
This feature has been there for many months already.

Is a browser session the lifetime of the browser process, or forever?
It's using
localStorage()
, so it technically forever, unless you're using, for example, Tor browser, that doesn't store cache at all or incognito mode.Submitted by JamieCameron on Mon, 08/01/2016 - 01:07 Comment #4
You might want to consider disabling this if the theme was installed as part of Webmin, as it will get updated along with Webmin to the current stable version. Updating files outside of the package manager can cause RPM / APT to report package validation errors.
Alright, Jamie, I can easily remove this.
It's removed in 18.06. Please upgrade.

Thank you Ilia for in fact excellent job and being so understanding as in this case. We do all really like the theme and appreciate your great contribution to *min, but please just keep it making all the features with "for hosting companies" idea in mind.
And please also read https://www.virtualmin.com/node/40515, because as a Russian speaker myself I ok with "Oпасность!", but it just doesn't sound right in English in this context, so please have it also changed.
Your welcome.
