Cannot Recieve Email

Howdy,

When sending email to your server, what shows up in the email logs? You can see the email logs in /var/log/maillog or /var/log/mail.log.

Ok, The whole file is 16+ MB... So I Just Got a Snippet Off the End, Where it seemed to be repeating the same things over and over.... and The Last thing I did before downloading the file was try to to send to gmail and yahoo to and from android email.

This is still pretty big but I didn't want to cut it off to soon.

It looks like there may be a syntax error in Postfix that's preventing it from running properly.

Try restarting Postfix with this command:

service postfix restart

And then, look at the end of the email log, and take note of what Postfix error occurs at that point. What error(s) show up at that point?

Also, what is the output of the command "postconf -n"? That will show your config.

Ok, I did the Restart, The 1st time it timed out so I did a Stop/Start then restart... And nothing new showed up in the maillog, I'm thinking the Mail System Is so Buried in the 500 Server errors my forum is sending out (760 this morning) that maybe it's lagging out, Also trying to send From GMAIL to Android Time-Out, So I shut off all error notifs from my forum and am going in now to check/clear the que and try again, see if it helps.

But here's the post.conf -n for now:

Ok, there where ANOTHER 500 Messages waiting to go out in the QUE, I figured out that what's there is being sent then removed so I had over 1300+ Errors on the forum, which I bring it up here only because, now I have another issue, Trying to send from the ANDROID E-mail is NOW timing out on the client too....

I've shut-off all notifs from the forum about errors, cleared the que, and now my Memory usage went from 89% to 24%, could explain alot....

I did the postfix restart, stop, start, and nothing is going to the maillog..., (I did delete it and recreate it as it was to big, not sure if I messed it up, but the permissions and owner are right)...

I'm gonna do a shutdown and restart the server I'll report back.... (With logs if I get any)

Ok I did a little work on my own, I regenerated the Dovecot Conf file as advised in the error, I re added the contact info in post-fix-general settings, I changed the General setting in postfix-general to "server.android-x86.net" as that is what the "?" info said it shoud be the FQDN.. To me this looks ALOT Better then what it was before but still getting the time-outs, Especially G-mail, Might Erase the log file again and do A restart, Not sure If I should regenerate the dovecot.conf file again as I did that before I did the postfix changes.

Thnaks for you alls knowledge on all this, Your actually pointing me the right way, as when I started I didn't even know that "maillog" existed, only the postfix logs.

UPDATE: Ok Good news, Time outs are fixed on sending from android, Android-Android Sent fine, Still not able to send to Gmail, So I guess those Unreachable (and I heard this was googles SPAM Prevention), I need to set-up something that google knows it's me at my forum at my IP address, And that I really don't know how to do....

Also started getting a major Influx of mails from things like twitter and my old Cloudsigma account and such, Like they where "Holding" and when I got done with these changes it let them through.

ANY Ideas?

More good news, I'm getting E-mails From Virtualmin saying Roundcube is installed which I did like on the 25th or so when I started working on the mail issues to check if they were their, AND The Forum Is sending E-mai (To Myself) Successfully, Needn't bother trying G-mail...

Doing a Complete Virtual Server Back-up NOW!

ALSO I changed the error sending script to my gmail account and It looks like the 500 errors have also vanished, need go in and recheck I set it right as it seems odd...

So if we can nail down this last Gmail Issue I think we got it.

Are you able to send email to sites other than Gmail? That is, I'm curious if maybe your provider is blocking outgoing requests to port 25?

Hey I wanted to comment here, I JUST Fixed this problem, My Provider blocks SMTP for the 1st month, They Cleared it right up when I chat'd with them, and what got me there was this link : https://support.google.com/mail/troubleshooter/2920052?hl=en It's a drill down from google to help clear up SMTP issues, which is what led me to talk to my provider...
