Your forum is very poorly index by Google. Check your robots.txt perhaps ?

Good evening,

I ran this search with Google, to see if there were news about PHP-FPM, with those exact terms, that I place between brackets:
[ "php-fpm" site:https://www.virtualmin.com/forum ]

And the result was, well, bad. What was returned, the results, that was not forum posts or forum threads, that was forum PAGES.
Meaning: page x of subforum y.
Of course, this is useless, as the sorting of posts is only valid at the exact time of the indexation, and even then, it would return a page with many listed forum threads.

It's a pity, that some people making Google searches skip the chance to find the information on the forum.

So, here's for my friendly suggestion, dear Virtualmin folks, check your forum's indexation settings :)

And have a nice day!

(P.S.: also, while I'm at it, I still don't get how one can receive email notifications that there are responses to a thread I opened. At best, I find how to subcribe to a whole forum, not just to a thread O_o)

Howdy,

Thanks for pointing this out, I'm looking into that issue!

Well, glad to help in the meager means I can, Eric.

Ideally, if you would know how to receive reply notifications for our threads in your forums, that'd be really sweet, too ?

Try "site:https://www.virtualmin.com/node" rather than "forum". The "forum" URL is just an alias for the top-level, so it would exclude all of the actual posts within the forums.

You can also use the Advanced options in the site search here (click "Site Search" at the bottom of any page) to specifically search just forum posts.

I'm still fighting with other issues with the site, but do have a todo list for the forum that includes getting notifications working nicer.

And, to answer your question: FPM is not yet directly supported, though some people have hacked it in. It's another thing on my todo list.

We need forum with 100% functionality not this Drupal crap. No function to mark read forum, part of the forum or topic, no subscribe to topic... missing like 90%+ of normal and usual forum functions. Almost same for the bug tracker. I think is better to use proper software for each task and connect them by using bridges (there are a lot of solutions) and forcing only one software to take a task of managing the users. There is no match for forums like XenForo, IPboard or vBulletin or free like phpBB, SMF, MyBB, etc. Same for bug tracking with Bugzilla, Mantis, Redmine and so on. Almost all forum software (at least the good one) have nice way to integrate with bug tracker and probably with Drupal. Maybe little annoyance at beginning to set up but later its easy to move, upgrade or change.

While i understand mobile friendly i hate when i see the forum on my 25'' and have an urge to touch my screen instead of using a mouse. This crap started with Win 8 and few others but smart ones soon realized that this is extremely stupid way of thinking and many of them pay the price because "i think i'm too smart".

For old post or non active bugs i would leave original software with read only function so no need to waste the time making some custom scripts to copy everything.

I'm the admin of a phpBB community, so I shall delicately say: it's best to avoid PhpBB at least, it looks like a cute little cottage from the outside, but on the inside, it's like Chernobyl a week before the explosion, a gigantic hellish maze of complexity ready to blow in your face without the slightest warning if you try to do anything in the options.

Other than that, well, it's true, the CMS choices doesn't do justice and gets in the way. It kills most hopes of a community support and, when you look at things fairly, an obstacle in the way of Virtualmin's growing success.

I totally agree. The current forum is very uncomfortable.
