IMAP and SMTP SSL - URL's

I am currently hosting all of my websites on a cPanel VPS. I am looking into migrating everything over to Virtualmin on a separate VPS. Currently, all of my clients connect to secure IMAP and SMTP for email (vps1.domain.com is the hostname and the same URL they use in their email configs on computers and mobile devices).

I want to try to keep this URL the same as to minimize the impact when I migrate over to the new Virtualmin server. So, I did a little test on my Virtualmin box. Created a new Virtual Server with a valid SSL Cert from a CA. Assigned it to Dovecot as well. I am using the domain name for that VS as the IMAP domain, but it's not connecting. I figured it should, as it just points (A rec) to the same server IP address anyway.

So... how would I go about doing this? I figured I could create a VS named vps1.domain.com and install the SSL and continue to allow them to auth through that since it points at the new server.

Am I going about this the wrong way?

Howdy,

Which port is it that you're attempting to connect to that isn't working? You could be seeing an issue with Dovecot or Postfix not listening on that port, or possibly a firewall blocking it.
