Hi, I am not clear on how the DNS settings should be set up? I have a domain name with a registrar. Do I point the domain name with the registrar to ns1.domainname or the public WAN IP of my Virtualmin server?
Then, in Virtualmin, do I set the DNS Records of Type A- IPv4 Address to the LAN virtual IP or the public WAN IP? Do I set the DNS Records of Type NS - Name Server to ns1.domain?
Howdy,
IP addresses in your DNS should point to your external/public IP address.
That will happen automatically if you go into System Settings -> Virtualmin Config -> Network Settings, and there make sure that "Default IP address for DNS records" is set to "Automatically detect external address".

Thank you for the reply. Yes, the default settings are set to that. However in Virtualmin > Server Configuration > DNS Records > the A - IPv4 Address are the LAN IP of the Virtual Server I created. I then have to manually change the A - IPV4 Addresses to the public WAN IP.
This may occur because when I setup multiple Virtual Servers, I select IP address and forwarding > Network Interface: Virtual with IP: xxx.xxx.x.xxx > Create server.
I believe this manually set LAN IP allows me and others to access the different virtual servers/websites?
