Restore: Extracting TAR file of home directory ..

Hi I have been facing a problem since last 2 days I am moving my 16 websites from one OVZ VPS/Virtualmin to another I have moved 15 sites successfully but restoration process of one site stucks on

Extracting TAR file of home directory ..

I have tried restoring this site many times in last 48 hours using Web based and also Command prompt Same problem occurs. It keep stucked here for hours

Your help will be really appriciated

Howdy,

Could you try running that restore from the command line again, and when it gets stuck, run the following two commands:

ps auxwf
dmesg | tail -30

Then, attach the output to this Forum thread. Thanks!

Hello, I tried twice to import a full backup of everything from same type of system (Debian 7 32bit).

The only differences between the two systems were that the first had plaintext password and the second was going to have hashed passwords.

I recovered the backup from Amazon and it got stuck at Extracting TAR file...

After navigating away from the page, I saw that the domain was only partially copied, eg the database was empty and only the domain owner had been created.

Then, I tried to delete the domain but the opearion got stuck again so I could not delete the domain. After rebuilding twice the whole VPS, I decided to recreate the domain manually, install site and database, and recreate the email accounts.

At this point my question is: can I just copy the Homes folder Maildirs manually as well? Or something will break? Any other suggestion?

When I sourced the database dump manually, I ran into this series of errors because of the 1MBmax packet size: http://injustfiveminutes.com/2013/02/14/errors-restoring-mysql-database-...

Could this explain the restore and delete failures?

The reason turned out to be some symlinks causing infinite recursion. It would help to have more debugging information printed to the Virtualmin restore screen during the restore operation.
