[SOLVED] Proftpd upload disconnect and timeout issue?

Well, first off hello to all.

Now here is a small issue I have run into and I hope that some guru here might know what I have done wrong to help me fix it.. :)

OS: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS Virtualmin 4.0.8 Asus RTN66U router.

Now here is the the problem.

When I got to FTP in to the site I have created in Virtualmin it is slow uploading files and it seems anything larger than (6,478 bytes) times out.

I do hope that someone might have a suggestion or even a where to maybe look idea?

Mmh, this can have quite a number of reasons. :) At first glance it sounds like a network issue.

From where to where are you uploading? (As in, what kind of system are client and server, and where are they located?)

Did you try the upload from different client locations, to rule out client-side problems? Anything useful in the ProFTPD logfiles?

First step is trying to narrow down if the client, server or any network component in between is the culprit.

Hi Locutus, Well I did some digging and thought I would try winscp and this works no problem.

But filezilla keeps giving me the issue I reported. So now I have no clue as to why that maybe but I do appreciate the quick reply..

Howdy,

Yeah, SSH/SCP is a simpler protocol, and it's also much more secure... if you're able to use that, I'd highly recommend it.

However, if you're hoping to use FTP -- do you see the same behavior with a different FTP client?

Ok, WinSCP works in FTP mode. But no matter what I do I can not get Filezilla to work at all still. But Winscp is actually growing on me.

Thanks for all your help, and a great program. For people like myself that is dyslexic having something that works as well as this does right our of the box basically it very nice.

Cudos..

Regards Darren.
