Hi Guys,
I have a problem with virtualmin on my gentoo release 2 from OVH. The system information are not showing and refresh system informations does not work.
Here is the log:
[19/Feb/2014:16:32:54 +0100] [91.179.199.99] Bad Request : This web server is running in SSL mode. Try the URL https://xxxxxxxxxxx:10000/ instead.
I get this error in logs ONLY when I refresh the first page of virtualmin or when I hit the button "refresh system informations"
Does anyone got the answer to resolve this?
Thanks a lot,
Jhon
Howdy,
When accessing Virtualmin, are you using "https://"?
The error you're getting suggests that it's being acccessed via http rather than https.

Hi,
Of course i'm using https:// !
And everything works fine. Just have a problem when accessing system information
Thanks
Hi guys,
Nobody knows a solution?
Thanks again !
I've never seen this behavior myself.
When you hover the mouse over the "Refresh system information" link, what URL does the browser show it's going to fetch?
What happens when you specifically type this URL in your browser:
https://YOURHOSTNAME:10000/recollect.cgi
Hey,
Hover the button I see exactly the URL: https://YOURHOSTNAME:10000/recollect.cgi
and when I go to this URL, I got the same thing. I see only:
Configure this page | Refresh system information | Virtualmin documentation
But nothing showed!
You might want to turn on Webmin's debug logging in "Webmin -> Webmin Configuration -> Debugging Log File", then retry the info page, and see if any errors get logged. Otherwise, someone from the team would need to barge in here, since this is a behavior I've never seen.
Hi,
In webmin.debug I got a lot of line...
Please put shell listings in

tags, otherwise they become unreadable due to lost line breaks and monospace font. There you go :)
Right, hopefully this will help the Virtualmin team find the problem. :)
Up guys :)
Thanks a lot
Something is wrong here.
"gentoo release 2 from OVH" is a (very old) distribution provided (among many others) by OVH on dedicated servers. It is runing Webmin (1.56) but not at all Virtualmin.
True, but i installed virtualmin on it. In my 2 servers and it worked well ! But with the new server, it is not working !
The "release 2 OVH" is a largely customized distribution with its own Webmin module developed by OVH and disigned to manage web hostings.
Installing Virtualmin on top of it will inevitably cause conflicts. Definitely not a good idea IMHO.
To use Virtualmin, it is highly recommended to install a minimal and unmodified version of one of the grade A supported distros (see "Download" link in the top bar), and not any hoster-modified version of Linux, and then use the Virtualmin installer script.
Like Nico said, using custom versions of Webmin or Gentoo or similar will most likely lead to problems that are next to impossible to fix remotely.
I know this thread is fairly old, but I also came across this problem. For me, the solution was to correct the server's date/time. We had to reset the CMOS on the server and then after doing a clean CentOS install and installing Virtualmin, we started getting this right away. Of course we forgot about changing back the date, but when we did it worked just fine afterwards.
Sorry, I stand corrected. It asked to update the OS (as it was detected) and worked once, but has since stopped. Still stuck. Will post if I resolve it.
