folder and file permissions

Hello,

when we are running automated scheduled backup of the Virtual servers, is the permissions for files and folders the same when this virtual server is restored ?

We have some sensitive web pages with special permissions on the .htaccess files, so I am just not sure is something goes wrong with the website, and when we restore it will these permissions remain the same as they was when backed up ?

PS: I am talking about 2 restore scenarios:

  1. restore on the same server

  2. restore on another physical server running virtualmin

Amel,

Essentially in terms of files in the "home" directory, it's quite simply making a "tar.gz" of the relevant directories, "as-is", therefore the permissions should be getting preserved, along with ownership.
