Hello,
I am having issues with Postfix. My postfix failed to re-start and stop. I can't send emails since the service is not working. I re-started everything and only postfix failed to do.
I ran commands via SSH but still won't re-start the service.
Please help me fix this.
Thanks, Eduard
Howdy,
When you attempt to start Postfix, do any errors show up in your mail logs?
The mail logs are in either /var/log/maillog, or /var/log/mail.log.

Hi,
The issue was fixed but I have encountered another error. I accidentally deleted the /etc directory :(
[root@mydomainhost ~]# /sbin/service postfix restart /sbin/service: line 3: /etc/init.d/functions: No such file or directory
Can you help out? I can't start the server. I can't even log in via SSH. It says "server unexpectedly closed the network connection".
My webmin won't even start.
Please advise.

Howdy,
Hmm, that's quite a predicament there :-)
The problem is that there isn't a quick fix to that -- the /etc directory contains the configuration for all of the services running on your system, and is rather important :-)
Do you have Virtualmin backups for all of your Virtual Servers? You'll need those in order to resolve this issue.
Here is my recommendation for how to fix this (assuming you don't just want to start from scratch with a new server):
Install an identical version of your Linux distro on another system
Install Virtualmin on that other system
Copy the /etc directory from your other server to your current one
Restore all of your Virtual Server backups (you don't actually have to restore the /home directory data, just all the configuration related goodies)
You'll then want to reboot, and figure out what still isn't working, and then make tweaks to the things not working properly
Hi,
Thanks for your response.
The problem was actually resolved. I've contacted support for help. I didn't have backups so I did ask for help.
Regards.
