New FTP User Permission Denied

I've created a new FTP user which I have limited to a specific folder inside of the main site root, I can connect no problem however I get permission denied when I try and upload any files. I can see that the owner of the folder is the FTP user so doesn't make sense that I can't upload, can anyone help?

Where are the FTP logs located so that I can troublesoot this issue, anyone know?

Hi doublespeed

Perhaps you could try using sftp instead - I've had ftp permissions problems in the past with virtualmin and after swapping my clients over to sftp they were all resolved. It's better practice to use sftp anyway, assuming it works for you.

oh, and in answer to your question with logs...

I have Ubuntu 10.04 and mine are here: /var/log/proftpd/proftpd.log

To find yours go to Webmin > Servers > ProFTPD Server > Logging Options and it will be shown or can be set in the fields on this page.
