Avoiding conflicts in "Virtual server template details (Virtual IP address)"

this might be a dummy question, but do I need to give a different IP range to each virtual machine's "Virtual server template details (Virtual IP address)" config OR will virtualmin assign only available (across all virtual machines) IPs to new vhosts (when I give the same range to multiple virtual machines)?

thanks in advance.

Howdy,

Virtualmin doesn't know what IP's are being used on other machines. If you're looking to use multiple IP addresses across multiple servers, you'd want to give different IP ranges within the templates.

Of course -- you only need more than one IP on a given server if a particular domain will be using SSL.

But if you are looking to setup multiple IP's across various servers, you'd want to split up those IP's so that Virtualmin can't accidentally give out the same IP twice.
