I am using Virtualmin GPL for a small development server and i love the remote backup function. It saved me a few time from big truble. The problem that I have is that I use a remote backup service and I don't have any option for automatic encryption of the archived file. Is there a way of using some strong encryption like the one in 7zip or something else in order to have the stored files more secure.
I can imagine that is possible to change the perl script for backup but programing skills ar minimal.
Howdy,
There isn't a way built into Virtualmin to handle this, but it would be possible to do that.
One way would be to have your Virtualmin backups go into a particular directory on your server, then have another script fire off after the backup which encrypts your data, and sends it to a remote server.
Similarly, you could have another command run after the backups are finished by going into Backup and Restore -> Scheduled Backups, and in your backup schedule, go into Schedule and reporting, and add any custom commands to "Command to run after backup".
