Hi all,
I've upgraded from Ubuntu Server 8.04.2 Ubuntu Server 10.04.2.
The only problem I have remaining now is that virtualmin says that bind9 is not running when it is.
a "dig @localhost" proves that.
How can I get virtualmin to report that bind9 is indeed running.
I am not running in a chroot environ for bind9.
Thanks.
It's possible the location for BIND's PID file changed when upgrading.
Check the BIND module in Webmin, "Module Config" link in the upper left, section "System Configuration", entry "Default PID file location(s)". Make sure your BIND actually creates its PID file in one of those locations, and if not, modify the edit box.
Hey,
You were bang on!
it initally had this
/var/run/bind/run/named.pid /var/run/named.pid /var/run/bind/run/named/named.pid
and I changed it to
/var/run/named/named.pid which is where the pid file is on 10.04.
Thanks.
Glad to have helped! :)
You actually upgraded an existing Ubuntu 8 to 10? Uh-oh. Good luck with that, and let's hope that there's not much else that breaks. ;)
