DNS Domain Problem

Hi, I recently installed virtualmin and have a problem with DNS. I have a game server, the server and I want to connect with cs.domain.com. I put in services » DNS domain » Adress, cs and IP Address, but still not working.

Thanks

I hope I spelled correctly, because they do not speak English too. (I have Romanian nationality)

Howdy,

Do other domains on your server work correctly, and allow you to connect to it?

One example of what might cause what you're seeing is if your domain isn't using your server as it's DNS server. If it's setup to use a third party for your DNS, you'd need to setup 'cs' at that third party DNS provider.

Well, there's two questions --

  1. Do other domains on your server work as expected?

  2. Is DNS hosted completely on your own server, or is DNS being hosted at a third party?

  1. On any domain DNS does not work

  2. Virtualmin (DNS) running on my home server

Many things can be wrong there. Please tell us more about your setup, as many details as you can think of.

Is your home server registered at the domains' NIC as responsible nameserver? Is it behind a router and port 53 forwarded? An example domain name would be nice, to make some tests.

Do not use router.

Name Domain: seedfile [dot] ro

That domain name can be resolved and points to 95.77.180.239.

Further info about possible problems you can get here: http://www.intodns.com/seedfile.ro

It does not seem that your machine, if that is the IP above, is configured as authoritative nameserver for the domain at your NICs. Are you sure you're operating the nameserver(s) yourself?

To give more advice, I'd need to know what exactly the problem is, and more about how your server is set up. Please give us more info.

Howdy,

Nameservers are setup at your domain name registrar.

Most registrars offer an area within their control panel that allows you to setup 2 or more nameservers, as well as define what IP addresses they are associated with.

I just wrote up brief instructions on setting up a nameserver in the section named "How do I setup nameservers for my server" here:
