Hello Everyone! Actually, I want to setup a web server for my websites that are currently on a server hosted with my hosting provider. But, the problem is I'm a novice when It comes to Linux specially CLI. So, is there any ISO available with Linux & Virtual Min integrated. or any way to install Virtual min using GUI on CentOS.
Please help! its urgent.
Thanks & regards,
Rahul
I do not think there's either an ISO (there might be a VMWare appliance, not checked that) or a graphical installer for Virtualmin.
Though to be honest - you do not need that. If you intend to do web hosting under Linux, you should first acquire at least sufficient basic knowledge of that system so that you're able to log in via shell, download the install script and execute it - that's all there is to it really.
Even though Virtualmin is a very powerful tool and does mostly all of your daily hosting configuration needs for you, that does not liberate you from the responsibility to have a basic understanding of the underlying system. Otherwise you ARE going to run into trouble, possibly serious trouble, sooner or later, namely if something does not work in Virtualmin right away and as expected. And that does not even need to be due to "bugs" in Virtualmin, but its level of complexity is sufficiently high that this in itself a challenge that you should master first before using it for live sites. :)
Operating a server yourself is not just "clicking your domains together", as you can do when your hosting provider does all the low-level stuff for you. :) Okay, in Virtualmin it mostly actually is, but things can go wrong at any time, and then you do need to do what your hosting provider currently does for you: go low-level and fix stuff.
So my suggestion would be to spare yourself that trouble and do some experimenting first. E.g. download VMWare Server, install it at home, create a virtual machine and put Virtualmin on that. That won't even cost you any money, since VMWare Server, CentOS and Virtualmin GPL are all free-of-charge. So you can play with it for as long as you need, before you host your websites yourself, thus those sites are not in danger while you learn how stuff works. :)
