301 redirect and SEO

I have several URL's that are keyword rich. I also have a main site that these other URL'ss point to (specific pages), set up via the registrars CP.

I want to utilise the keyword URL's more effectively and do 301 redirects, which I am told is better then registrar repointing, whilst adding meta tags/description to them, for SEO.

I appreciate that this isn't an SEO community, but would appreciate some comments on whether I am looking at doing the right thing.

I also would like to know how to set the URL's up on VM so they can be pointed, via 301's to the main site.

Howdy,

Well, I can't really give you any SEO tips. I'm not particularly up on that topic. However, we can certainly talk about redirecting :-)

If you go into Server Configuration -> Website Redirects, you can use that screen in order to setup any number of redirects.

That should be sufficient for what it sounds like you're describing, but if you want more options, you can take a peek at Services -> Configure Website -> Aliases and Redirects.

Either of those screens should allow you to setup what you're after. Feel free to yell if you have any trouble!

Eric,

is there any documentation on using these settings?

What I want to do is 301 redirect www.alexandrapalaceantiquesfair.co.uk at www.nelsonfairs.co.uk/alexandra-palace.

nelsonfairs is up and running, but, just looking at those 2 areas you pointed me too, I cant work out what to press!!

I also assume that I just point the domain at the webserver, but what dns servers do i point to? nelsonfairs or new ones for the pointing domain?

I am sure it is all simple when you know how.....

Just in case someone else comes looking for this answer:

andreychek gave the base of the solution:

go to: Services -> Configure Website -> Aliases and Redirects

on the line "Regexp URL redirects" FROM: ^(.*)$ STATUS: 301 TO: https://www.domain.com/$1
