Hi, i wanted to know what should i do in order to use my virtualmin server only for Web Hosting. I know how disable the other features (like mail, dns, etc.), so my virtual servers cannot use them, but when i go to the servers options i can see that the are running, so i stop them. But my question is, from a secure point of view is it enough to just push the stop button? Should i do something else so i can prevent any attack coming from a port from the other services like dns, mail?? Hope i made myself clear and thanks for any help i may get!
Yeah, once you stop the daemons from running, and set them up to no longer start on bootup, you should be in good shape -- at least from that point of view :-)
The other two things I'd make sure of is:
Make extra-sure that you keep your system fully up to date as new updates become available
Keep all your web apps up to date -- insecure web apps are a really common way that people break in
The above are some great steps to keeping your system secure :-)
