Where is the mail?

Hi,

my recently installed and configured server doesn't deliver mail to my inbox. I looked up the logfiles but the only thin I found was this:

Sep 6 00:43:37 r24733 postfix/anvil[5148]: statistics: max connection rate 2/60s for (smtp:213.165.64.20) at Sep 6 00:40:16 Sep 6 00:43:37 r24733 postfix/anvil[5148]: statistics: max connection count 1 for (smtp:213.165.64.20) at Sep 6 00:39:49 Sep 6 00:43:37 r24733 postfix/anvil[5148]: statistics: max cache size 1 at Sep 6 00:39:49 Sep 6 00:44:15 r24733 postfix/smtpd[5762]: connect from mail.gmx.net[213.165.64.20] Sep 6 00:44:15 r24733 postfix/smtpd[5762]: 7D9CB52A45: client=mail.gmx.net[213.165.64.20] Sep 6 00:44:15 r24733 postfix/cleanup[5768]: 7D9CB52A45: message-id=20090905224413.92330@gmx.net Sep 6 00:44:15 r24733 postfix/qmgr[4680]: 7D9CB52A45: from=*****@gmx.de, size=1047, nrcpt=1 (queue active) Sep 6 00:44:15 r24733 postfix/smtpd[5762]: disconnect from mail.gmx.net[213.165.64.20]

Now I haven't got any idea where my mail got lost...

procmail: Timeout, terminating "/etc/webmin/virtual-server/clam-wrapper.pl" procmail: Program failure (-15) of "/etc/webmin/virtual-server/clam-wrapper.pl" From ******@gmx.de Sun Sep 6 01:09:58 2009 Subject: test Folder: /dev/null 1134 Time:1252193159 From:*****@gmx.de To:autix@autix.org User:autix Size:1135 Dest:/dev/null Mode:Virus

this is everything...

Dest:/dev/null Mode:Virus

apparently Clam is seeing your mail as a virus and the email was not delivered.

Mode:None would mean that Procmail delivers the mail to your box.

ok but how to fix this problem? I turned Clam off but my mail is not delivered anyway... The test mail was only plain text with no attachment.

if you turned clam off then what is in the logs now? maillog and procmail
without log entries anyone would be guessing
when you send an email also make sure there is text in the textbox btw..

others may also want to know if you installed through install.sh or otherwise
on which OS
how much ram it has (vps or dedicated box) if you have 3third party repositories on
and other relevant information which would lead to mis-configurations on your box.

oh im sorry that I fort to tell you which os aso. Debian 4.0 etch 1GB RAM 2,6 Ghz Intel Core2Duo installed by install.sh

I checked my mailbox and there was a mail of the mail agent which contained following:

<****@stock.****.net> (expanded from webmaster@autix.org): Command time limit exceeded: "/usr/bin/procmail-wrapper -o -a $DOMAIN -d $LOGNAME". Command output: LibClamAV Warning: *********************************************************** LibClamAV Warning: *** This version of the ClamAV engine is outdated. *** LibClamAV Warning: *** DON'T PANIC! Read http://www.clamav.net/support/faq *** LibClamAV Warning: *********************************************************** procmail: Timeout, terminating "/etc/webmin/virtual-server/clam-wrapper.pl" procmail: Program failure (-15) of "/etc/webmin/virtual-server/clam-wrapper.pl"

I looked up the logs again and found this nowhere...thats just a bit curious... After reinstalling clamav everything works normal.

thanks for your help!

great that its working

you may also want to check on your nameservers/ns records.
http://www.intodns.com/autix.org

Don't know what happened there... It's bullshit anyway... The NS/records are set correctly and it's working fine. I called my dns-provider but he also wasn't able to help me.

it's not entirely BS.

ns3.second-ns.com.autix.org should be ns3.second-ns.com. on your server (you forgot the dot at the end)
hence the second error why it can't find ns3.second-ns.com

your website works because of the other two nameservers.
