disable change password in usermin webmail

Is there a way to disable the ability for users to Change their Password in the usermin webmail interface for a single Virtual Server?

Howdy,

Yeah, you can disable the Change Password module for Usermin.

If you log into Virtualmin, click Webmin on the top-left, then choose Usermin Configuration -> Available Modules, you can check/uncheck a number of modules there, including "Change Password".

That worked, but it is global (for all virtual servers). Is there a way to disable it for a single virtual server?

Sure, if you go back into the Usermin Configuration page, there's a "Module Restrictions" option.

That allows you to setup what modules are available to a user or users using a variety of criteria.

Eric's got you on the right path, but I'll add that the bit that may not be obvious is that the UNIX group of the user is determined by their membership within a particular virtual server. So, a restriction applied to the "virtualmin" group on our server, for example, would apply to Jamie, Eric, and me, since we're all members of that group.

Why impose this when passwords are the heart of *security* for any users accounts.

you can impose this on users that insist in wanting to create smart passwords like: 'mypassword' and other unbreakable dictionary words :-D and force them to use silly passwords like: jshys#YHfbg&lmsLOD
