honestly, I'm impressed. I've used webmin for a long time now and whle browsing I have found Virtualmin, installed it as a module and tata, working ---- again, very impressed!
But (there is always a but), I do have some questions:
I run zimbra on my Server for the main email application. So I disabled mail creation, DNS (currently doing this externally, but will change according to the FAQ (you see, I have read them)) so far so good.
I'd love to disable ssh access for the user created during creation of a virtual instance. FTP (with vsftpd) works fine, inlcuding chroot, but this default ssh access is frightening me. How can I disable shell access or chroot them (is this possible at all without a complete and complicated /etc/skel?)
I'd love to see that virtualmin creates configfiles for the domains underneath /etc/httpd/conf.d instea of ammending the /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf file. Is this possible?
I'd love to choose one of the zimbra users during creation of a new domain (access via LDAP) and give the choosen users the required rights instead of configuring them double. Reason is for password changes, so they can change their password underneath zimbra (in ldap) and this gets reflected in the system for ftp and databse and webmin login as well.
to me, topics 2 and 3 are the most important (2 has high prio), the rest is just my 2 cent in case someone is totally bored over the weekend :-)

It looks like you can set that by logging into Virtualmin, then clicking Webmin -> Servers -> Apache Webserver -> Module Config -- then looking for the option named "File or directory to add virtual servers to".
It sounds like yours is set to "httpd.conf", but you should just be able to choose the option next to that and specify a directory you'd like to put those in.

thanks, that was it.
Only Problem now: I ammended the default settings in the apache area to include another virtualhost (basically a webmail.$DOM entry doing a proxy pass to Zimbra.
When I create a virtual domain, it gets created perfectly now and is working just nice, but when I delete the virtual domain, it leaves the $DOM.conf file in place. it deletes the default stuff out of it, but leaves the webmail.$dom virtual host in there.
How can I fix it so that the $DOM.conf file gets completely deleted?

Hrm.
Rather than answering your question specifically, as I'm not quite sure why it's not deleting the entry -- I have another idea that may work well for you if you aren't tied to proxying :-)
If you log into Virtualmin, then go into System Settings -> Server Templates -> Apache Website -- and from there, scroll down a bit and you'll see two options, "Redirect webmail.domain to Usermin?" and "URL for webmail redirect".
If you set the first one to "yes", and have the second redirect to your Zimbra url, that would accomplish something similar to what you're after. Of course, that won't help much at all if you wanted to keep the proxying in there ;-)

But in the end, virtualmin supports proxying at least for alias websites, why not extending and supporting it for other servernames as well?
