Import CSV

I've been able to recreate all tables i need with Virtualmin. I see a button "Export as CSV" but where can i import a csv file?<br><br>Post edited by: postbus1@postbus.info, at: 2008/07/11 23:01

Because you've chosen your email address as your username. You can change it on the &quot;Your Account&quot; page, and I'd recommend you do so. Once you've changed it, all prior posts will have your new username.

There is no such option. Exporting as CSV is merely a convenience function for folks that want to pull a table into a spreadsheet or other data processor...but CSV does not contain the data needed to re-create a table. A CSV export is not a database backup.

You need a native dump of the database to be able to restore data (using the &quot;Backup database&quot; option--Virtualmin also has a virtual server backup feature that can safely backup and restore databases that belong to virtual servers). I'm sure there are tools out there to import data from a CSV, but it's a lossy format--it's not the same as restoring via a proper dump, and is probably a recipe for disaster if your application is expecting well-formed data in the database.
