DNS cluster slave problem

Lately adding cluster slaves has quit working giving me the following when I try to add a cluster slave:

""Failed to add server : Could not work out this system's IP address. You should set the Default master server IP for remote slave zones on the Module Config page.""

I don't know what this means. In the Module config page, I've added the primary and secondary nameserver IPs in all the boxes where it says ""Default master server(s) for slave zones"" so I'm not sure what's up. THey were working a couple updates ago, but now when I remove and then try to re-add the same server it fails.

I've selected as ""Default master server IP for remote slave zones"" to get IP or hostname. THe updates are going around deleting the /var/named/slaves files.

Any ideas,

thanks, Dan

My Error here.

When trying to figure out why the servers wouldn't talk anymore earlier when we physically moved the servers to a new location, including new bandwith provider we did some WAG move and changed the host settings path from HOST DNS to DNS HOST. It worked for awhile but changes along the way apparently called our bluff and they quit working. In the process we found out the static IPs we'd gotten weren't truly static. They were simply IPs isolated from a dynamic pool which was the reason our mail relays kept complaining of a forged domain name. We now have "static" in the IP name.

Set everything back to HOST then DNS and the BIND SLAVE cluster happily finds the IP from the hostname and updates the slave records appropriately.

Sorry if I had you scratching your head.

as an update,

After a couple updates got the same problem again. It's best just to bite the bullet and insert the IP address in the "Default master server IP for remote slave zones" instead.

Hello,

I know it's a stupid statement, but I don't know webmin and virtualmin yet that well.

That's all well and good, However I am still learning. Where would I do this at? Slave, Master? Where I went and tried to look for it and I don't see where I would enter that information.

Thanks,
Michael

That would be in the BIND module config under zone file options. And that would be the IP of the box you're currently accessing.

Hi I am receiving this error also:

Failed to add server : Could not work out this system's IP address. You should set the Default master server IP for remote slave zones on the Module Config page.

I have set up the ns2 address in the def templates - bind section of the file and saved all ok.
