Ive been looking at dropping Apache and going with another alternative server, to drive my managed cms. It's a thoroughly battle-worn and stable Russian HTTP(S) server, HTTP(S) reverse proxy and IMAP/POP3 proxy server written by Igor Sysoev, running on many heavy-traffic Russian sites for more than two years. See English wiki: http://wiki.codemongers.com/Nginx
Also very interesting is Cherokee: http://www.cherokee-project.com/ "Cherokee is a very fast, flexible and easy to configure Web Server. It supports the widespread technologies nowadays: FastCGI, SCGI, PHP, CGI, TLS and SSL encrypted connections, Virtual hosts, Authentication, on the fly encoding, Apache compatible log files, and much more."
Im wondering how viable/probably/possible it would be to get WebMin working with the above servers; what it would take? could I outsource this work? would Joe even consider it? why is everyone staring at me? am i going insane!? - y'know the usual questions.
