Composing mail.

In the from field it's filled out for me with my username (the first part of my domain name@myhostingsite.com where myhostingsite.com is my servers hostname. If I send out email like that it will surely be replied back to that address, and I would never see the reply. I seriously consider this a bug, and the name and email address should be left blank or fixed to be myusername@mydomain.tld

Hey Adam,

I believe the default after install is for the @domain.tld address to be selected based on where you logged in. So, if I contacted Usermin at https://domain.tld:20000, the from address would be joe@domain.tld. At least, I think we made this the default.

It is configurable in the Usermin Configuration:Usermin Module Configuration:Read Mail. There is a whole configuration section concerning the From: address (Usermin is nothing, if not flexible). You probably want From URL, and you probably want to train your users to contact the server on the domain to which they belong.

Joe,

I had the same question concerning the from address and so I tried changing the setting you mention: Usermin Configuration -> Usermin Module Configuration -> Read Mail -> From address = URL. But the problem is when I click on SAVE at the bottom of the screen, the setting is reverted to the default setting, so the changes are not saved and the usermin mail program still shows the actual hostname in the From address. How should I approach this?

Hi,

I have a similar problem, but for me it ONLY happends if a user should forgett to use HTTPS and then be redirected to the Error page:
"Error - Bad Request
This web server is running in SSL mode. Try the URL https://hostingserver.tld:20000/ instead."

If the user now clicks the default link and log in the users from mailaddress gets user.domain@hostingserver.tld

If the user log in correctly with https://www.domain.tld:20000 his from address is correct: user@domain.tld

I used to change the Error page to NOT include the link to force the user to change to https in the address line. In this way he allways use the correct log in address. In my opinion the default Error page when you forgett to enter HTTPS should either have the link to show the actual domain NOT the hostin servers, or just show a text without the link, maybe something like this:
"Error - Bad Request
This web server is running in SSL mode.
SSL mode reguires HTTPS. You have to change the entered "http://" to "https://" before you try again.

Regards,
Leif
