Something went wrong during installation: 1

First install having first removed Webmin.

Recieved the following message after install [[installs/attempts to install]] dependencies:

INFO - Something went wrong during installation: 1

A little vague. What do I do now?

Thanks Chuck

Hey Chuck,

I suspect (and hope!) that there was a more informative error earlier in the output from the installation. I'll admit the new logging is a bit weak (but it's better than the no logging that prior versions did!). You can also check the virtualmin-install.log that appears in roots home directory to see if anything shows up there--this log is woefully incomplete, however...it only catches a few problems, and most still have to be found in the console output.

Hey Chuck,

Looks like the error was actually with the SELinux disabling bit...which shouldn't be an issue that prevents successful installation (maybe). It really shouldn't be attempting to disable it on RHEL 3, since SELinux doesn't exist on that platform...so I'll see about fixing that.

In the meantime, did Webmin and the virtualmin-base package get installed?

rpm -q webmin virtualmin-base

If so, then things are probably fine. If not, let me know and we can arrange for me to drop in on the box...I'll probably need to have a look to see exactly what's preventing that step from working.

Joe,

I am not sure why, but when I switched from a ssh session and logged in via VNC I was able to run the install script. Everything is up and seems to be running, so far. Thank you for your help.

Chuck
