webmin-virtual-server cannot be authenticated

During an attempt to upgrade webmin-virtual-server (4.17) I get this message:

Reading package lists... Building dependency tree... Reading state information... The following package was automatically installed and is no longer required: btsync-common Use 'apt-get autoremove' to remove them. The following packages will be upgraded: webmin-virtual-server 1 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded. Need to get 4243 kB of archives. After this operation, 92.3 MB of additional disk space will be used.

Going through the issue list I did not find any solutions.

I am running: Linux 2.6.32-5-amd64 on x86_64

Howdy -- hmm, what is the output of this command:

cat /etc/issue

Output: Debian GNU/Linux 6.0 \n \l

Thanks

Thanks! Okay, knowing that, one last question -- is this Virtualmin Pro or GPL?

It's a payed licence, so I guess it's a pro. Thanks

We had the same error. Any of the following two options fixed it.

First option is to wait one or two hours then using Virtualmin try to update again. Notice on the "Software Package Updates" page the "Source" column will read "Jessie" instead of "Unknown".

A second option is using Terminal as Root to run that command https://www.virtualmin.com/comment/578986#comment-578986

Using

  • Debian Jessie 8
  • Webmin 1.791
  • Virtualmin 5.0-1 GPL
  • Kernel and CPU Linux 4.5.0-x86_64
