Can a parent virtual server and its child sub-server be on different account plans?

Hi,

Use Case: Assume I have 3 plans: 'Basic', 'Advanced' and 'PRO' account plans. I created a virtual server with account plan "Pro". Subsequently, I created a child sub-server of the aforementioned parent server. The child seems to inherit the same account plan as the parent and I couldn't find a way to edit the plan assignment.

Question: Is it possible to have the child on a different account plan than the parent?

Thanks for your help! Jonas.

Howdy -- an account plan refers to things like total disk quota, total domains allowed within an account, features that domains are allowed to use, and such.

An account plan is for the entire account, rather than just one domain.

Put another way, an Account Plan can be described as permissions that the Virtual Server owner is granted.

All domains within that account would all be subject to the features and limits setup in that particular account plan.

A Server Template is similar, except that it deals with a different type of settings, and that Sub-Servers can potentially be given a different Server Template than the top-level domain.

Settings within the Server Template are more like a list of defaults, rather than a feature or restriction on the account.

It looks like you may be using Virtualmin GPL there though... if you're using Virtualmin GPL, you'd actually want to use the Forums for support. We monitor the Forums, along with lots of wonderful folks in the community.

Thanks!

Thanks for clarifying so clearly : )
