New setup. Error installing WHMCS via script

I have just installed Virtlualmin on my digital ocean droplet. I created a domain for my hosting website and tried to install WHMCS using the script included with Virtualmin GPL. I get the following:

Found in cache ..
Found in cache ..

Configuring webserver PHP settings ..
.. already done.
Applying web server configuration ..
.. done

Now installing WHMCS version 5.2.15 ..
Account creation did not succeed
More information on using this script can be found at

.. installation was only partially complete.
Re-loading Webmin ..
.. done

Applying web server configuration ..
.. done

Any idea what I might be missing?

Howdy -- what values did you select for "Initial login for script" when installing the script?

Also, what is that Virtual Server's username, password, and email address currently set to?

Those are all parameters passed into that part of the WHMCS installation, and may be related to why it's not working properly.

Where do I find the Virtual Server's username, password and email?.. I have found under "edit virtual server" that the host is "" the administration username is "clan-host" and I set a password. (this is my first trial so I accepted most all defaults)

When installing the script, I have tried both selecting "same username and password" as well as entering them manually... same result.

Thanks for your quick reply.

I was able to setup WHMCS manually (version 5.3.6 released March 25) ... when i did that, I noticed that it was complaining about not having the GD libraries installed for PHP. I installed those and everything went smoothly. I will try to uninstall it manually and try to re-install using the script. I will let you know how I make out.

That's fantastic that you got that figured out!

I believe GD is installed by default on most distros, it's possible that doesn't occur for some reason, and that Virtualmin is assuming it's there.

I'll talk to Jamie about checking for PHP GD on Ubuntu when installing WHMCS.

Regarding the username, password, and email -- I know you don't need this anymore for WHMCS, you can determine what those are by going into Edit Virtual Server, and looking in "Configurable Settings".

I will make sure the WHMCS installer brings in the PHP GD module in the next release.
