It's been sometime that I've noticed on one of my virtualmin boxes that some virtual servers are “appearing”. The names are only numbers, and they don't have any content. I didn’t care about it at first, but after the last virtualmin update I´m getting emails for failed backpus on these virtualservers. I tried to delete them, but I get a message “Domain is not valid!”.
Please check the attached image, and the messages I get on the failed backup bellow:

How can I delete those virtual servers, and what may be the cause for they to be created? Thanks . Rogerio

This has been a Virtualmin Heisenbug for a long time. ;) Apparently it's caused e.g. when a Virtualmin backup job is executed that backs up only Virtualmin configuration and no domains.
To delete these invalid servers, go to directory
/etc/webmin/virtual-server/domains
and delete the files there whose names correspond to the invalid server numbers. To check you got the right files: they should be considerably smaller than real domain files.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heisenbug

This bug should be fixed in Virtualmin 4.02. Are these kinds of domains still appearing even after upgrading to the latest release of Virtualmin?

Hi Jamie,
I deleted the invalid domains yesterday, and so far I don't have any new invalid domain.
If it happens again I'll let you know.
Thanks
