It would be great if Virtualmin could restore a domain without the admin having to delete it first - manually.

Howdy -- a domain doesn't actually need to be deleted before it can be restored... it shouldn't be a problem to perform a restore on an existing domain, it should just overwrite it.
Did you run into a problem of some sort while attempting that?

It doesn't overwrite "extra/new files" in the home directory (im my case). In my opinion a restore should get rid of "extra files" (in the home directory or config files). For example virtualmin should delete the domain first (or something similar) before a restore.

An option to delete the domain before restoring wouldn't be too hard to add.
I'll look into this for the next release.

Ok, this feature will be included in the 4.02 Virtualmin release.

Thanks! This will be very useful. I guess a lot of users don't realize that "restoring" doesn't necessarily create an exact mirror of the backup :-)
