As the wordpress admin I goto udate a plugin in a wordpress installation in a virtual server on my server and it wants to see my ftp credentials. This is because the file permissions on the wordpress files are incorrect. They are chown'd to the virtual server account.
How do I fix this? I have installed wordpress in virtual servers using virtualmin in the past and don't remember dealing with this issue. Have I done something wrong?
Thanks

Is this virtual server running PHP scripts using CGI, fcgid or mod_php mode? The first two allow scripts to update files (like plugins), while the latter does not.
You can see this on the Server Configuration -> Website Options page.

No -- that was not how I had it set. I have changed to run fcgid. That did it.
Grazie.

Great! That's how we recommend you run.
