The VM shows in GUI as alive and works perfectly, and I can access webmin on port 10000 on the vm, but not from my cloudmin master.

Franco,
In your firewall, do you have the port range "10000-10010" open? I believe Webmin (the core of Cloudmin) uses a port in that range for RPC calls...

Hi Peter, there is no firewall involved. this is a cloudmin host unable to connect to its own vm via webmin. Franco

You may need to go to the Change Password page in cloudmin for that VM and tell cloudmin the ssh username and password to use for it.

Ok thanks - sent. As you can see in the screenshot, there is a limit subset of configuration options, and it does not include the SSH login or password. Franco

Thanks, got your email.
You need to click on the "Change Password" link on the left frame. This should bring up a page for entering the SSH username and password.
