Right now, I can say keep backup for say 4 days in virtualmin scheduled backup. I'd like to see a slightly more sophisticated retention schedule.
Perhaps, we want all backups for a week (7 days), then, one per week up to a month, the one per month for a year for example. This is not an uncommon way to retain backups.
So, it would be nice if Virtualmin were able to do this sort of retention.

You could do this currently by creating multiple scheduled backups to different directories, each with a different interval and deletion period.
For example your daily backup would be deleted after a week, your weekly backup deleted after a month, and monthly deleted after a year.

Yes, I suppose that's a workaround, given enough backups, it would work. The issue is then maintenance since changing anything about a backup entails changing all of the backups.
I think it's possible with 3 backups, given the example I gave.

Since it is unlikely that we are going to support a more complex deletion policy any time soon, having multiple scheduled backups is the recommended solution to this..

Ok. That's why I put it as a enhancement request, not a bug, I thought that's what it is for. We'll find an alternate solution then for backups since this will not work. You might as well close this then. Sorry for cluttering the system.
