(posted in the forums a few days ago https://www.virtualmin.com/node/20897. looks like a bug?)
Proftpd used to be there, but now I can see only the following.
Apache Webserver Running Stop Restart Apache
BIND DNS Server Running Stop Restart BIND
Postfix Mail Server Running Stop Restart mail server
Dovecot IMAP Running Stop Restart Dovecot
SSH Server Running Stop Restart SSH Server
SpamAssassin Running Stop Restart SpamAssassin Server
MySQL Database Running Stop Restart MySQL
Centos 6 and proftdp service133e installed and running. Virtualmin 3.89 GPL. anybody else having the same problem?
Status:
Closed (works as designed)

Do you have the FTP feature enabled on the "Features and Plugins" page?

No, I did not enable "virtual FTP", since it doesn't make much sense with just one IP address, right?
But that doesn't mean FTP is not enabled for virtual servers (e.g. it is possible to log in via FTP).
I would compare FTP to SSH, which is not listed in the "Features and Plugins" page, but is still visible in the status section. So probably it would make sense to add proftpd as well even if virtual FTP is disabled. What do you think?

You can enable the FTP feature, even if you never activate it for any domains. The checkbox in the "Default?" column can be un-checked to prevent virtual FTP from being activated by default for new domains.
BTW, Virtualmin used to behave in the way you requested (always showing the FTP server status), but users who didn't use FTP at all complained!

Yes, I know that it used to behave like this :-)
Not sure why they complained about this. If they never want to use FTP, wouldn't it be useful to see that FTP is indeed disabled?
Thanks for the explanation. It is actually not a big deal, just wanted to report this (looked like a bug, but it is "by design").

Some users apparently shut down the FTP server because they weren't using it, but got annoyed because it always appeared as down on the System Information page.
