Please contact the server administrator, root@localhost and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

Has anything on your server changed recently? Any packages updated?
If MySQL crashed for some reason, you may simply need to restart it. You can do that with this command:
/etc/init.d/mysqld restart

Seeing an Internal Server Error means that the full error message is being posted in to your Apache logs.
What error message shows up in $HOME/logs/error_log?

I don't actually see any errors in your Apache logs, so it's difficult to say what the problem might be.
Was anyone doing work on your server around the time this problem came up? If so, what sort of changes were being made at the time?

Joomla on a site was established. Joomla 1.5.24. Another study did not.

Well, if one website works, and another doesn't -- you may be seeing a problem with Joomla... it doesn't appear to be a MySQL problem.
Is there more than one website not working? Or is it just the one website that doesn't work?
