Problem with new Virtual Server

I have 4 Static IP's, 2 are private, and 2 are shared, (one of the shared IP's belongs to a Reseller) I have 1 site each on the Privates IP's. I just created a new Virtual Server on the Resellers Account. using one of the Shared IP's. If I FTP to the site, it goes to the right site. but if I try to browse to the site, it ends up going to one of the sites that is on a Private IP. There is 2 sites on one of the Shared IP's, but the new Virtual Server is on the other shared IP, and there is only one site on it, so I added the new Virtual Server on that IP. I'm not getting any error messages, its just going to the wrong site. I checked all the other sites and they work fine.

Even check the DNS Records, everything looks right. Anyone have any Ideas here, because I'm out.

Try validating all your virtual servers at Limits and Validation -> Validate Virtual Servers, and let us know what errors are found (if any).

Also, make sure that the DNS entry for the domain points to the correct IP. If DNS is hosted elsewhere, it is possible for this to be incorrect.

Finally, if you are using NAT make sure that there is a 1 to 1 mapping from external to internal IPs.

Wow Jamie that was quick. I tried Validating all virtual server, there were no errors, DNS is hoted here on my server, and the DNS Records point to the right IP

Finally, if you are using NAT make sure that there is a 1 to 1 mapping from external to internal IPs.

This I'm not sure what you mean, or hot to check it.

This I'm not sure what you mean, or hot to check it.

Is your server behind a NAT router?

If so, for any IP address on your server that you want to use -- you'd have to have a corresponding public IP address on your router that points to it.

When using NAT, that means you'd have only local IP addresses on your server... IP's like 192.168.1.x.

For any of those local IP addresses on your server -- you'd need a public IP address on your router that forwards traffic to the local IP on your server.

OK I under stand, No I do not use a NAT, All 4 Static IPs come out of my Cable Modem. and right to the Server. I have a 5th IP that goes to my Router, for my home system. Completely separate.

I tried deleting the virtual server, and creating it again, on the other shared ip, that has 2 other sites on it., but it still goes to the same private ip. The other two sites work fine.

Would it be possible for you to attach your system's Apache httpd.conf file to this bug report, or email to me at jcameron@virtualmin.com ? There must be some mismatch between the virtualhost IP and the NameVirtualHost line.

Also, knowing what the IP of the domain is in DNS would be useful..

My IP range is 74.87.143.202 - 74.87.143.205 Right now the shared ips are 74.87.143.202 and 203 The private ips are 74.87.143.204 and 205

I have the new virtual server on shared ip 74.87.143.203, but the web browser goes to the site on 74.87.143.205

Hope that helps.

Michael

What's the name of the domain you're having problems with?

I don't see that domain your attached httpd.conf file .. and actually, it looks in-complete.

Could you email me the file instead, at jcameron@virtualmin.com ?

Thanks for the config ... it looks OK to me.

Also, I just went to http://www.northstar-systems.com/ in my browser, and the website for "North Star Systems" actually loaded just fine.

Are you still seeing this problem? If so, did you change the IP of www.northstar-systems.com in DNS recently? If so, the issue may be DNS propagation delay..

No I haven't changes the ip address in a while. I am still having the problem. I have Googles nameserver set up on my Router. and I had ns1 and ns2.asrservice.com setup on my server. I don't unserstand whats going on here..

I just checked it on my iphone, and it comes up right too, and Chrome, will bring up the NorthStar site too, but not FireFox.

OK I figured it out, I have been fighting this all day, and somehow FireFox was set up to use a Proxy server, It is funny that all my other sites come up fine. After I changed it back to No Proxy, and now it works. This is embarrassing. Sorry, I wasted your time Jamie, but thanks for all the help anyway. You can mark it as fixed.

Michael

Sounds good, I'm glad you got it figured out!
