Hi

We have a 2nd server that we have Virtualmin on. One server already has a 50 user licence. We have cloned this machine to a second server so it has ended up with the same licence.

Virtualmin serial number 5557027

Do we need to have a new serial number for this new machine or do we use the current one. If so how do we change the serial number and can you provide us one. Do we buy licences for both individually. We have 50 domains on one we will need 100 on the other.

Regards

Phil

Howdy -- yeah, you'd need to have a separate license for your new server.

While you can use the same license on a test server, or temporarily during migrations -- for a new production server, you'd want a license just for it.

To change the license on your new server, you can use the Virtualmin command line tools:

virtualmin change-licence --serial SERIAL_NUM --key KEY_ID

Unless the 2nd machine is for backup / non-production purposes only, you need a second licence.

Once you have purchased it and gotten the serial number and key, you can switch a system to the new licence by SSHing in as root and running :

virtualmin change-licence --serial XXXX --key YYYY
