I am not able to find an option to switch from venet to veth. Veth is needed if a user wants to run Samba in a container.

Unfortunately at the moment only venet is supported..
Does Samba really need a veth interface? From what I read, a veth interface is only needed to enable broadcasting ..

From the OpenVZ wiki:

I'd expect you can still connect to Samba if the hostname is given explicitly on the client though - it just wouldn't appear when browsing..
Regardless, veth support is something we should support eventually..
