Hi, i have a small vps and i recently installed virtualmin pro. I created a virtual server and made two email accounts. I send an email from my google account to both of them to check them out and i get this:
Mail headers View all headers | View raw message
From
webmin@primary.livelessons.info
To
livelessons@livelessons.info
Date 11/06/2011 00:00
Subject
Service monitor : Website www.livelessons.info down on primary.livelessons.info
Message contents
Monitor on primary.livelessons.info for 'Website www.livelessons.info' has detected
that the service has gone down at 11/Jun/2011 00:00
I tried earlier to upload a small pdf file with the images from the beggining of the problem but couldnt upload it.
Thanks in advance Yiorgos Katopodis

Howdy -- Virtualmin has a status manager that tests the various websites running on your server. It checks them every few minutes. If the websites aren't online when it tests that, you would get the message you posted above.
Not being able to receive email sent from Gmail is likely another issue...
I verified that your server is listening for incoming connections. That appears to be working correctly.
What I would recommend is to send yourself another email from Gmail -- and immediately after sending it, look in the email logs on your server. Those are located in /var/log/mail.log. That should show what's happening whenever email is sent to your server.

hi again, thank you for your immediate response.
i have erased the whole server and made a clean start. I installed virtualmin again and made some new test emails. this is what i get from the mail.log file:

dont know really what to do!!!
Memory. I'd bet dollars to donuts you're on a VPS system, running under OpenVZ, and it claims you have a lot more memory available than you actually do. ;-)
Or, maybe you just don't have enough memory to run a full mail stack. Ubuntu 10.4 was the first OS to crack the "needs 512M+swap" mark to run the full Virtualmin stack, including mail processing.
You should be getting memory allocation errors rather than these kill signal errors, but the kernel OOM killer might be kicking in, which would lead to this behavior. In any case: I bet you need more RAM. And swap, if you can enable it.

You are right about the vps but i dont know about the memory It is a Hetzner vps that says it has 2 Gb of memory. I will kill again the machine i will leave it blank and i will try with my dedicated with 16GB of ram. I will install the virtualmin on the dedicated. i will let you know

Do you have a file on your VPS called "/proc/user_beancounters"? If so, can you paste in it's contents?
