Howdy -- actually, Virtualmin Pro does support both FreeBSD 7.0 as well as 8.0 on i386 and amd64. They're considered Grade B supported systems. You can read about what that means here:

after installing virtualmin I get
Global Configuration
HTTP/1.0 500 Perl execution failed Server: MiniServ/1.530 Date: Tue, 1 Feb 2011 00:01:07 GMT Content-type: text/html Connection: close
Error - Perl execution failed
Undefined subroutine &apache::mod_auth_basic_directives called at ./apache-lib.pl line 787.
when opening apache in webmin, is this a known issue?

That's an unusual error you're seeing.
If you delete the file "/etc/webmin/apache/site", and restart Webmin with "/etc/init.d/webmin restart" -- does the error you're seeing go away?
